Dear WSPI Members,

I hope this message finds you well. As the Managing Director of our organization, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates and reminders with you.

Introducing Our New Name: Wedding Show Producers International (WSPI)
After nearly three decades, we are evolving to better reflect our mission and community. I am pleased to announce that we will be rebranding as Wedding Show Producers International (WSPI). Our new name emphasizes our commitment to inclusivity and relevance in the wedding show industry. We will make the official announcement at the Wedding MBA, unveiling our new logo and signage. This change marks an exciting new chapter for us, and I am eager to continue our journey under the WSPI banner.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our organization. Together, we are shaping the future of the wedding show industry, and I am grateful to be on this journey with all of you.

Next Year’s Conference in Orlando, FL, in May.

I'm excited to announce that our next annual conference will be held in beautiful Orlando, FL! While the specific dates and hotel information are still being finalized, you can expect more details soon. Orlando promises to be an excellent location for our event, offering a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for our members.

Wedding MBA Conference
The highly anticipated Wedding MBA conference is right around the corner, taking place in Las Vegas this November. This event is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect, learn, and grow as wedding show professionals. I strongly encourage each of you to attend and make the most of this invaluable experience.

For those attending Wedding MBA, here's what you can look forward to:
- WSPI Wedding Workshop: Attend our special training session designed to equip you with the latest insights and strategies for success in our industry.

- Annual Sip & Savor Party: Join us for our much-loved annual party at Maggiano’s. Have beer or wine and a bite to eat while networking with fellow members in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

- Our Booth: We invite you to help us staff our booth at the conference. This is a great way to engage with attendees, share our mission, and promote our organization. If you're interested in volunteering, please let us know.

MONTHLY WEBINAR:

Dear WSPI Members,

I hope this letter finds you well and energized as we continue moving forward through an exciting period of growth for our organization.

One of the most exciting events on the horizon is the Wedding MBA in Las Vegas. This is always a highlight for us, and I encourage all of you to join us for an incredible learning experience. The lineup is packed with valuable sessions that will help us sharpen our skills and take our businesses to the next level. But it’s not just about learning—Vegas is also about connection and community. We need volunteers to help man the BSPI exhibit booth at the conference, and this is a great opportunity to represent our organization while building new relationships within the industry.

There’s also a palpable sense of new energy within BSPI right now, largely thanks to the many new members who have recently joined our ranks. Both Producer and Associate members have been coming on board in droves, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. The explosive growth we’re seeing is truly remarkable, and it’s a testament to the work we’ve all been doing to make BSPI the go-to community for wedding show professionals. This new momentum has created a real buzz within our group, and I couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.

As we look ahead to our events and continued expansion, I want to personally thank each of you for being part of this journey. Whether you’re a long-standing member or just joined, your involvement is what makes BSPI such a special organization. Together, we are shaping the future of wedding shows, and I have no doubt that the best is yet to come.

Let’s keep this energy going as we approach the Wedding MBA and beyond. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together!

2025 BSPI Conference Location

We are delighted to announce that next year’s BSPI Conference will be held in beautiful Greenville, SC! We are exploring several fantastic properties, and we’re excited to have Marc Wheeler from Wedding Festivals as our host and guide to the city. Stay tuned for more details as we finalize the plans for what promises to be an incredible conference experience.

Wedding MBA 2024

Wedding MBA is fast approaching, scheduled for November 12th - 14th in Las Vegas. We are pleased to offer an extended discount sign-up period for all BSPI members, along with a special discount code for you to share with your vendors (We're waiting for confirmation on how long the discount will last and Ryan will let you know as soon as he hears).

This is a unique benefit we’re proud to extend to our members, and we hope you take full advantage of it. Here’s a quick rundown of our plans for Wedding MBA:

I hope this message finds you all basking in the warm afterglow of our unforgettable annual conference at the stunning Paradisus in Cancun. As your newly elected Managing Director, I am filled with immense gratitude and excitement for the future. Together we will shape the bridal industry.

Our time in Cancun was not just a meeting of minds but a celebration of hearts, and it was your enthusiastic participation that made it a phenomenal success. The energy and inspiration shared by each speaker and leader sparked a wave of innovative ideas and renewed passion that I believe will propel us into a future bright with possibilities.

I would like to extend a special thank you to all our speakers and leaders who dedicated their time and expertise to make the conference both enlightening and enjoyable. Your contributions were instrumental in the success of this event.

Among us, three remarkable individuals stood out for their exceptional contributions: Helena Rincon Tuscano was honored with the 2024 Special Appreciation Award for her selfless dedication and tireless efforts in ensuring our conference not only met but exceeded expectations… Shelly Danz for our Annual Spirit Award for her enthusiastic and meaningful contributions to our group and Debbie Mancini who was awarded the prestigious 2024 Director's Cup, recognizing her more than two decades of steadfast dedication and leadership within our community and the wedding industry at large.

These recognitions are not just accolades but a reminder of what we can achieve through dedication and teamwork. They inspire each of us to strive for excellence and to contribute passionately to our shared goals.

As we move forward, let us take this inspiration and turn it into action. I call on each of you to engage deeply, collaborate effectively, and work diligently to expand our organization and strengthen our voice in the wedding industry. Together, we can elevate our influence and continue to set standards of excellence.

As I bid farewell as your Managing Director, my emotions are bittersweet. The journey with the current board has been incredibly rewarding. Over the term, your board and I have diligently worked together to enhance membership value through various educational initiatives and networking opportunities. From engaging monthly webinars to insightful sessions at Wedding MBA, past conferences, and our upcoming conference, it has been a privilege to serve. While my role transitions to Past Managing Director, I urge you to cast your votes for your new board, via the emailed proxy ballots that have been sent, if you are not attending conference.

For those still contemplating, there’s STILL TIME to register and grab a room at our exclusive BSPI conference rate, on availability, while they last, in beautiful Cancun, Mexico! Happy New Year everyone! I’m sure many of us, including me, are going crazy gearing up for our upcoming shows. I think it’s going to be a great year!

Just another reminder that it’s time to renew your memberships and register for our 2024 conference in Cancun on the BSPI website. Please make your hotel reservations with the booking link we’ve provided as soon as possible. Our room block is limited, so we don’t want you to miss out.

Also, an email has been sent out regarding nominations for the board. This is a self nomination process, so if you are interested in serving, please reply to the email. The elections will be held at the upcoming conference.

Well, the holidays are upon us, and I’m sure most of us are in high gear getting ready for our January shows!
I want to remind everyone to take advantage of our special 2024 conference registration pricing of just $299 for the first attendee and $149 for each additional attendee valid until December 31st. We are so excited to confirm Alan Berg and Shannon Tarrant as speakers for our 2024 conference!

We want to welcome Kyle Brown Producer and CEO of the Fairytale Bridal Expo/ Ken County Bridal Association in Bakersfield, CA. Kyle has been a Bridal Show Producer since 1996.

And we're so excited to have Lindsey J. Williams. Lindsey is coaches wedding professionals on how to have success at bridal shows. She's developed a course, The Bridal Show Blueprint, that she would like to go through with your vendors. In her online course, she tells vendors how to make $25K in 24 hours!

Hello everyone!

Wow, what a great, productive time we had at Wedding MBA last week in Las Vegas. Our booth and cocktail party were a huge success and resulted in some new associate members, as well as attracting some new experienced show producers wanting to become members of BSPI. Thanks to Kitchen Charm and Celebrity Cookware for sponsoring our awesome cocktail party. The entire trip was a success!

We are so excited that we now have the hotel booking link for our 2024 BSPI Conference dates at the beautiful Paradisus Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. Check-in is Tuesday April 30th with our Welcome Reception that evening, and check out Friday, May 3rd. We have full conference days on May 1st and May 2nd and our Finale Dinner and awards ceremony will be the evening of May 2nd. We hope you’ll also stay on a few days to enjoy the weekend after the conference.

The rates are $260.33 Single Occupancy/$305.79 Double Occupancy. This does not include the 16% VAT which will be added after booking, however this 16% tax WILL BE REFUNDED back to your credit card after the conference* (See explanation below). Rates are valid during conference days and 4 days after, which is an amazing deal for a 5-star, all-inclusive property! Valid April 30-May 8. It will appear you are paying for the whole stay during the booking process, as is typical with all-inclusive properties, but you will be sent a separate email to pay and only be charged one night as a guarantee when booking, not the entire stay.

Also, please be aware that since this is an all-inclusive hotel, you MUST stay at the conference hotel (Paradisus Cancun) to be able to be on the property and to attend the conference. There is very strict security at this property, so you cannot stay at another hotel and think you will be allowed on the Paradisus property to attend the conference.

Conference registration is now open on our website. We are offering $100 off the regular $399 conference registration fee, so just $299 for the first attendee and $149 for each additional attendee ($50 off the original $199 price), if you book by December 31st.

We are so excited to announce that Alan Berg has been confirmed to speak at our 2024 conference, and we are still securing more great speakers to be announced very soon. Please book your hotel as soon as you can to ensure that you’ll be part of our BSPI room block and secure the conference rate.

If you need any more clarification, please reach out to me or any board member directly. We are looking forward to one of our best conferences ever in 2024!

*Value Added Tax (VAT) Financial Benefit Explanation:

Your rate includes a significant tax savings of 16%, which will be provided as a reimbursement to you and it’s specifically applicable to our conference. It’s valid through and including the evening of May 3rd. To receive this tax benefit, please ensure to fill out the required form upon your arrival. Please note that this reimbursement is applicable only to international tourists and not for Mexican citizens.

Reimbursement Process: You can expect to receive the reimbursement approximately 21 days after your checkout date. The reimbursement will be processed to the card you provided during the payment.

REMEMBRANCE

We say goodbye to another of our former members, Carolayne Holley, who passed away on Oct. 31. Carolayne served on the BSPI board from 2010-2012 and was treasurer during that time. She took over the duties of treasurer from me when I became the Managing Director.

She will be missed and we're all thankful for her contributions to the wedding industry.

Well, summer is almost over and fall is almost here. I’m sure we will all be looking forward to moving on to our 2024 January and first quarter shows!

We have confirmed site inspections due to be completed in the next couple of weeks for next year’s 2024 BSPi annual conference, so a formal announcement will be made at that time! So that you can mark your calendars with dates, we will follow the same time and format as in previous years. Monday, April 29 (evening welcome reception), conference days will be Tuesday, April 30th and Wednesday, May 1st. Our finale dinner will be on the evening of May 1st, so check out May 2nd, unless you choose to stay over. I think it’s going to be one of our best conferences ever!

I was excited to hear from Will Hegarty that we have over 25 Bridal Show Producers signed up for Wedding MBA in November. We hope those of you going will stop by our BSPI booth and sit in on our sessions while you’re there. Anyone interested in volunteering to help, please reach out to one of your board members.

Our cocktail party will be on Tuesday evening, November 7th after Wedding MBA, and will take place once again at Maggiano’s Little Italy. Last year’s cocktail party was a huge success! Everyone had a great time, and we even recruited some new Show Producer members and a new Associate member.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and having successful summer shows! We have been working on getting proposals for next year’s BSPi annual conference, so I will be filling you in with all of the exciting details very soon. Also, we have just received some of the seminars that were recorded from our 2023 conference, and those will be available for purchase soon on our website to those of you who couldn’t make it, or those that just want a refresher course! There was so much great information packed into the conference.

We are excited and gearing up for Wedding MBA in November. In addition to our booth this year, BSPi is working on some afternoon interactive sessions during Wedding MBA, which will be especially planned for any and all invited bridal show producers. There will be an evening-sponsored cocktail party, so we hope you’ll join us if you’re in town! Last year’s cocktail party was a huge success!

Hello again, everyone!

Well, our 2023 BSPi Conference is a wrap! We all had a great time and learned so much! I think all of us that were there are looking forward to applying all of that great information to our shows.

The feedback from our members has been really positive! We had 100% of our conference attendees that were surveyed say that they were likely to tell another wedding show producer about BSPi and invite them to attend a conference! Everyone loved Clearwater Beach as a destination, and the speakers overwhelmingly exceeded everyone’s expectations.

I’d like to congratulate all of the members that progressed in their levels of certification as well as Stacy Blackwell for receiving the Buzz Gallardo Spirit of BSPi Award and Joe Andretta for receiving BSPi’s highest award, The Director’s Cup!

Hey everyone!
I cannot believe that our 2023 BSPI Annual conference is just 2 weeks away! We have exceeded our expectations, and we now have over 60 attendees registered for conference! This will be one of the most attended conferences in years! To accommodate this increase, we have shifted our main meeting space on Tuesday and Wednesday to the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach, right across the street from our host hotel. Our finale night banquet will also be held there overlooking the beautiful Clearwater beach. I’m so excited to see the growth that BSPI is experiencing. It’s going to be an amazing conference, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

Wow, what a hectic time this has been for us show producers that had January shows! I know my two January shows were record-breaking in both vendors and attendance, and I think 2023 is going to be an awesome year!

If you still haven’t renewed your membership, you’ll want to take care of that right away, and also register online for our education packed conference coming up in May.

It’s December and the holiday season is now in full swing! Wow, what a hectic time this is for us show producers with January shows. It’s definitely a beautiful thing post Covid! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Don’t forget to renew your membership dues online this month to be able to deduct them for your 2022 taxes. This is really an exciting time for BSPI! With our continuing education and certification programs and bringing you quality speakers and educators on monthly webinars, we have been consistently adding more value to your membership. We are also growing our membership base with more qualified, quality show producers representing new areas of the US and Canada as well. Education is a top priority.

Our 2023 conference registration is now open on our website. We look forward to seeing everyone in Clearwater, Florida. It’s going to be awesome! Make sure to get your hotel reservations made asap, as this is a popular tourist destination during that time. Well, can you believe it? Thanksgiving is already just around the corner, and I think we all have a lot to be thankful for this year! Most of our shows are back, and we survived! I really think that 2023 is going to be an awesome year for our wedding shows.

Our BSPI booth at Wedding MBA in Las Vegas and our 1st Annual Cocktail Party were a huge success! Thanks to all of you that helped in the booth and with organizing the mixer. We are excited to have connected with several new qualified show producers and potential associate members in areas that we do not have representation in, and they are excited about the opportunity to join BSPI! They’re also hoping to attend our conference in Clearwater, so you will be seeing some new faces there as well! We will be posting more conference information and registration will be open very soon on our website.

Ralph Desuse, Laura DiGiralamo, and Sal Richetti all did a great job speaking at Wedding MBA and educating wedding vendors on why they should do wedding shows!

Our Fall Board Meeting was very productive, and BSPI is definitely on an upward trend.

NEWS FROM OUR MEMBERS

We want to congratulate Ralph Desuse, Laura Digirlomo and Sal Richetti for their excellent presentations at the Wedding MBA. They put bridal shows in the spotlight for vendor's marketing plans. They also talked about how to choose the right kind of show with trustworthy and innovative producers. After the presentations, a vendor from Texas came up to the BSPI booth to make sure of who in her area was a member of BSPI because she didn't want to work with anyone who wasn't reputable. Thank you, guys!

We also want to thank everyone who worked at the BSPI booth during the Wedding MBA and talked to vendors and show producers alike. A highlight of the activity was our first BSPI Cocktail Hour Social. BSPI, through our sponsors Celebrity China and Cookware and Dinner 4 Two, hosted about 50 people and told them about our organization over drinks and appetizers. Thanks to everyone who helped put this on and a big thank you to Celebrity and Dinner 4 Two.

REMEMBRANCE

Patty Westbrook, former owner of Bridal Bazaar, passed away on 11/7/22.

Patty was born on 5/30/52 and was an incredible businesswoman who made bridal shows professional. She came into the business of doing bridal shows in a big way with her business partner Besty Winsett. They produced shows in San Diego, CA, area beginning in 2000. She sold her show to Tara & Bob Hoffman in 2018.

She was a proud & active member of the BSPI. She lived a happy life in Encinitas CA, with her son Tobias, two dogs, and two kittens.

Patty will be missed by many.

HERE'S WHAT YOU MISSED AT THE LAST WEBINAR

Along with our monthly webinar, we had our first BSPIU session with Shannon Tarrant with Weducation by Wedding Venue Map. She reviewed Instagram and gave details on how to improve your account and engagement with her seminar on Capturing High Quality Leads In Instagram. She guided us through her step-by-step process to utilize all of the features on Instagram to make you more money this year. This workshop format was a mix of learning and actually DOING, so you left with the tools to start selling on this platform.

In October's monthly webinar, we were treated to time with Jason Weberhoff with EduXpert. Well, I HAVE SOME VERY EXCITING NEWS!

Mark your calendars for our 2023 BSPI annual conference, which will be held May 1st-3rd at the Residence Inn by Marriott in CLEARWATER BEACH FLORIDA! Our welcome reception will be held on the evening of Monday, May 1st. We will have two full days of conference on Tuesday, May 2nd and Wednesday, May 3rd, with a finale night dinner that you won’t want to miss on the night of May 3rd! Our conference rate is $189 per night, which includes a full breakfast each day!

The booking link below allows for the group rate starting April 30th-May 5th, however, group rates will be extended from Friday, April 29th and can extend all the way to Sunday, May 8th, on availability. (you must check with the hotel directly for pre/post availability).

Hi. I’m Shelly Danz and I am the producer of Atlanta Wedding Extravaganza. Atlanta Wedding Extravaganza (previously Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta) was created in 2009 by 2 wonderful women. In 2017 they approached me about taking over their show. I had already been producing the Atlanta Bar/Bat Mitzvah Expo and the minute they broached the subject - I was all in.

The show was already a special show - beautiful, interactive and had a great reputation. Over the past 5 years, I have tried to continue that tradition and have worked to make it my own. I changed the name to be more inclusive, I have grown the VIP experience, added over 40 Ultimate Wedding Giveaways and introduced an exclusive Diamond Card to the show.

It’s very important that the vendors feel a connection to both me and the show. I want them to know I care and that I want them to be successful. Building that relationship really makes a difference. Now that zoom is a part of our lives, I do a vendor zoom meeting the week before the show to go over many important features of the show to get them ready.

The BSPI conference really opened my eyes to so many amazing producers and so many wonderful ideas and I am bringing ideas, small and big ones, to my next show. One little idea I took from the show….I will have staff walk the aisles with a branded cooler giving out water and snacks to the vendors because we know they can’t leave their booths! And I’m having 2 college boys at vendor load-in to help out. These 2 little things were small little ideas I got out of the conference, but I know they will make the vendors happy and are so easy to do!

Moving forward, I am introducing a new event in the fall called Bites & Brews Before I Do’s - a wedding Tasting event that focuses on caterers, restaurants, cakes, sweet treats, etc at a Brewery on a weeknight with entertainment. I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going! :-)

That’s a little bit about what I’m up to. I’m so happy to be a part of this group and working together to help each other be more successful.

Well, we are a couple of months post our 2022 BSPI Conference in Savannah, and a boy, what a conference it was! It was great to see old friends and new faces. Like we tell our vendors about doing a show, there’s nothing like being there in person, face to face! The conference was packed with lots of great education, new speakers, not to mention the awesome southern food and libations at our final night dinner! I think everyone left with some valuable information to put to use in making our shows even better. Some of us, myself included, also came back with a few extra pounds to work off, ha ha!

I am so honored to be working with a group of board members, old and new, that are so dedicated to the betterment of BSPI. We have been working hard to implement new benefits for our members, growing our membership, and now adding this monthly newsletter to communicate and update our members of the latest BSPI news. I am looking forward to an exciting year, and we will be announcing our next conference very soon. Stay tuned!

Welcome Amanda Copley!

I have been at the Arkansas Democrat Gazette newspaper for nearly 10 years. I joined the paper as their Marketing Research Director. Six years ago I moved into their Marketing and Events Director portion and began working on our events including the Bridal Show.

I love producing the Bridal Show because weddings mean so much to me. I realized during my own wedding that this would be the only time in my and my husband's life where all of our family and friends from both sides would all be together in one place to celebrate and enjoy each other. So when we are at our show and get to see not just the engaged couples enjoying wedding planning, but parents and siblings and friends - that’s when the Bridal Show just feels like one big celebration. It makes it such a fun time all while couples are planning their dream wedding.

We have exhibitors from a huge variety of industries, and they all have different marketing and branding needs. What works for a wedding gown boutique is entirely different for a caterer. That’s a big challenge. So we are always working hard customizing and learning how to make sure we can meet each industry's needs.

One tip I would offer is to stay flexible. Things are always changing! We have ticket requests, weather issues, and have even had exhibitors ask to move locations hours before an event. And while we can't always fulfill every request, it's important to stay calm and entertain creative solutions for your clients. We have also learned to make sure you keep an open mind. Sometimes exhibitors will have a new idea from another event. We try to be up for anything!

We attend a variety of events (not just Bridal Shows) to get event ideas, new strategies, new installations, etc. And lastly I would suggest always researching. In fact, from the conference we learned about adding surveys prior to the event and even conducting short surveys on site which we plan to add. We review our surveys after each event to find out what works well for our couples ad our exhibitors. I believe it’s important to reflect, evaluate and grow from each event.

My husband and I have been married for 20 years, We have two boys Jack, 14, and Eli, 10. And our schipperke Dottie. In my free time I love spending time with my family and watching our kids play soccer, swim, golf and more.
